State and Regional Coordination

The Economic Development Administration has identified “economic development districts” that are multi-jurisdictional entities, commonly composed or multiple counties and, in certain cases, cross-state boarders. This strategic blueprint developed but EDA is known as “Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy” (CEDS), which supports regional economic development collaboration. State trade offices are the conduit that provide direct trade assistances to small businesses. They are an important part of the Governor’s team to support those opportunities. The goal is to combine both efforts to support and create regional trade expansion projects.

Additionally, Brookings Initiative on “Global Cities” offers leaders in U.S. metropolitan areas reorient their economies toward great engagement in worldwide markets. They developed a toolkit to support those initiatives. This example can foster collaboration between local and state government and regional EDDs.
